That makes sense! Thanks!Hmm, for me basic obedience is different in every situation. What it comes down to, is things that help/make everyday life easier, and safer. As with many here, either down or stay, leave it, and come would be on my list. For the guard dogs (or larger dogs in general, to be honest) , I'd also include good leash manners on that list. Do all the guard dogs here have good leash manners? No. But it would be what I'd prefer.
Handler awareness is another one. I'd call that a skill more than anything else, that's why I haven't really included it. I don't focus too much on how focused the dog is on me. What I do think is absolutely necessary is for them to be aware of where the handler is
