My older dog is as stubborn as a pack of mules, so he only knows Sit, Stay, Come, and is starting to grasp No. I'm still working on him, though after 7 years it's still a slow process.

My puppy knows Sit, Stay, Come, Heel, Lie Down, No, Off, Leave It, Drop It, the names of his toys and leash and harness and how to bring them to me when I ask, Go Search, Jump Over, what to do for me to keep me from having a panic attack, and defense commands.

I'd say basic obedience is Sit, Stay, Down, Heel, door manners, No, Leave It and Drop It.

I haven’t read but a little of the thread, so I don’t know if this one has been mentioned. But, “Get your butt out of my face” is a high priority command.

I have use that one a lot when jughead is in the truck with me. I just used it this morning 3 times.
