I love my wyandottes, they are so friendly and easily handled. And they are pretty too! They are my number 1 pick so far.
I have (or have had) barred rocks, golden comets, phoenix, cochins and mutts. oh and I just got 2 leghorns a few days ago.
The phoenix are a blast to watch, smart and full of energy. My one phoenix is named flash cause she runs everywhere real fast. But doesn't like to be handled and it can be hard to do so if need be.
I will have to see how the cochins turn out cause they are all young right now.

It was the type on the title of this thread when it was first posted. It was jumbled and hard to read, but it's all straightened out. No problems

Great Question: And everyone will have a different answer.

I love my Plymouth Rocks (white, barred, partridge), they are great layers, beautiful and so friendly, curious little buggers. I also love my Easter Eggers, love the different colors, all of mine have great friendly, silly, personalities and of course the beautiful blue/green eggs. I love my Buff Orpington, so very friendly and huge, jumps in my lap every chance she gets.

I can't forget my Black Australorps, just gorgeous black/green feathers and dark brown eyes. Love their very talkative personalities and how they love to be around me.

Oh heck I could go on and on, I just love all my chickens.

I do believe that if you pick a breed you like, and handle the chicks often and feed treats often, you will have some great pets.

My favorites are my white silkies. They are just different. They are friendly, they don't eat much, they have funny personalities, great layers of small tasty eggs and they just are fun to watch. I also like my Jersey Giant pullet. She talks a lot.

Just about any one of them, except : Show Girls, and frizzle chickens.
Faves: 1) Easter Egger Why: Because they lay pretty eggs and come in various colors and color cambinations.
2) White Rocks They are large and lay good.
3) Cochins They are very big and fluffy, and most I've had lay fairly well.
4) any other Because I like Chickens.

Ligh tBrahmas rock! I cant believe nobody said it already..they are the gentle giants,they would come in the house if we let them! great in cold winters, they roosters never attack and have a beautiful crow..hands down my fav...
I currently have a java/coachin mix rooster..pretty dominant but very friendly!

Buff Orpington. They are big, calm, and beautiful. I had to give one of mine, Martha, eyedrops, and she barely even squirmed!
