What is the best and worst thing about the area you live in?

Powhatan, Virginia - A rural county, west of Richmond.

Worst: It takes me an hour to get to work. On a good day.
The heat and humidity in the summertime.

Best: The stars on a clear night.
I don't need a permit to have chickens.

I live in Hannibal, Missouri

Best: Great variety of weather all the time, THE HEART OF THE U.S.A., and so many great people, I'm sure I forgot a ton!

Worst: A couple of days in the winter on some years we have bad ice storms but then it all melts and gets better!

you have obviously never experienced a cat 3 or higher. I had to run from Rita and didn't go far enough, then experienced a heat wave like no other with almost 100% humidity and no electricity. Had to evacuate further north. Couldn't go home for a month, it was bad. Bad enough to decide to move away from the coast (SE Texas). I then helped friends this last year, BOTH families lost their houses completely. Entire cities where either washed away or totally destroyed (High Island and Bridge City) Hurricanes for me are BAD news... at least in the last 5 years. I do however love a good thunderstorm rolling in the wind, sights and sounds...beautiful.

I now live in Central Texas Hill Country and love it....
like Texasgirl said ... it's TEXAS! lol! and it is beautiful. The humidity is low and the worst thing that can happen where I am now is hail or flood (but as long as I'm home the flood won't bother me I live on a hill) I lOVE it here!

worst thing... we are in a horrible DROUGHT!!! we need rain really bad. oh and the temp is at lease 100* every day so far thanks to the high pressure causing the drought.

I'm in Northern Missouri.

Best: Beautiful changes in the seasons, cold snowy winters, nice springs, hot summers, breathtaking fall scenery. Also, the people are nice and friendly here.

Worst: Summer humidity. (My naturally curly hair looks sort of afro-ish in the summer. Hats are my friend!

The only good thing about where I live (I use Vancouver as a blanket term, I actually live in an area of Langley about an hours drive from Vancouver, not that anybody here will know where that is.) As I was saying, the only good thing about living here is that my area is zoned to legally allow chickens.
Other than that, I can pretty much sum up the entire lower mainland of BC as overpriced, over populated, terrible traffic, too much construction and new developments, and many pretentious residents who consider themselves lordly occupants of "The Best Place on Earth." Ever since they decided to host the olympics here, BC blows the big one. Sorry if I offended any fellow BC'ers.

I grew up in Northern BC, and coming to the lower mainland was an unpleasant shock. I've been here for years now, but I still dislike it and want nothing more than to return north. Unfortunately, there's no jobs up there. So I'm stuck here. For now. *pouts*

Best- Beautiful and dry heat (not humid heat)

Worst- Some would say the heat, but I actually enjoy it. In the winter we get ice instead of snow. And no one knows how to drive on it.

I'm certainly not offended by what you have said.

I live across the street from a major OWE-lympic venue. Between parking mahem and road restrictions, access to my home is going to be trying to say the least. Add the new tax on everything and the "best place on earth" isn't seeming so great these days. Oh and don't even get me started on the poor bashing.

That said, I do have a view of the mountains from my bed which makes me happy and I live in a neighbourhood where I can obtain almost all of my needs in life within an 8 block walk.

North Central Texas here-- DFW area. We haven't had any problems with drought-- seems like there's a thunderstorm every day lately.

Best: The weather, the mentality of fierce independence, the cost of living, the fact that I live in a suburban area but within a 5 mile radius you can find longhorn cattle, bison, horses, and goats.

Worst: In spite of that last bit, it's illegal for me to own chickens. Figure that one out. Also not a fan of the fact that "Texan" for a lot of Americans seems to mean "uncultured, uneducated redneck" by default.

sunkett77-Texas hill country is beautiful! But my ex lives there. If ya see him, whop him over the head for me! (kidding!)

I live in middle TN. It's NOT Texas (where I grew up), but it is beautiful.

The best thing is that I live out in the country now, on 11.5 acres with a 2 acre lake that DH can fish in when ever he wants to.

Worst thing: I HATE COLD WEATHER! And the fact that working 45 hours a week sure does limit the other things I'd like to do.
