At my house i can only have a couole of chickens and they have to be small so what is a good small chicken that will lay a good amount of eggs of pretty good size.

Barred Rock..Friendly, talkative, good layers.

For a small type...I like bantam cochins, I wonder if there is a bantam orpington? Those would be really good! Or a bantam sussex

BRs & EEs. Both Friendly & I like to get brown & blue eggs.

I hear that Australorps and Speckled Sussex are very mild mannered and great layers! I'm getting 5 each:D

Define small. Do you need a bantam, a banty regular cross, or a small regular size chicken. A small regular size chicken could be a leghorn or an aracauna.

Some people hate leghorns because they are white and lay white eggs. But they are friendly, smart, and free range better than all my other breeds.

I personally like crosses. If you could get a banty/regular chicken cross than go for it. (banty rooster plus regular hen = 3/4 sized chicken.

) Or a leghorn cross that looks like a dalmation or a aracauana/aracauana cross that often looks like a wild bird.

Buff Orpingtons, they are large birds, but are very quiet.I have several in my yard and my neighbors still don't know that I have chickens[after 18 months.]

im wanting small medium size chickens maybe some bantams but not the really small ones and i think that there is such a thing as buff orpington bantams.
