What is the best way to hatch shipped eggs????

Hello from Oklahoma. I just finished reading this entire forum. Thanks for all of the posts with advice. I am getting ready to lock down my second batch of Ameraucanas. The first batch was 0/8 and I am about to pull my hair out! I wish I had found you guys earlier. I didn't know anything! I have some questions for the green and blue egg people: How is your luck with candling? I can't see anything in half the eggs (and don't know what I am seeing in the others!). Unsuccessful candling has been frustrating.

Having better knowledge about candling, I am wondering when unviable eggs should be thrown out.

Okay, I am more concerned with the hatch. It is safe to put the eggs on their side for hatching, even if they have saddle air cells? Some of the eggs have rolling air cells and the embryos are still developing. So I letting the automatic turn them 3 times a day, to limit the movement for the air cells. I am on day 6, when should I just let the turner do its thing and not unplug it, to limit the movement.

Thanks!

From my experience I turn off the auto turning at 19th day I believe the embryo news to get into position to hatch out only my views also from my early experience I've had chocks hatch within 5 minutes of pipping others can take hours they can rest

I am buying a lot of shipped fertile eggs
When I've got them home I store them narrow end down in their trays for 24 hours then set them in the incubator set at 37,5 fill the tray with water both channels filled St 19th day of incubation I've always been told that the humidity increase at this time softens if you would call it that helps in the chick hatching I hope all this helps I have the difficulty that my eggs are delivered by royal mail says it all really

Welcome! I got rid of the clears/quitters when I went into lockdown. I did sniff them after day 14 to make sure they weren't bad. The first time I candled it was hard enough to know what I was looking at and that was with light colored eggs! I don't have experience with greens/blues and really dark ones. But the most important thing is to candle from the fat end right into the air cell. Once you see the outline of the air cell look for red veining. Make sure you are in a very dark room, that really helps. Also since you didn't have any luck last time, I'm wondering what your humidity is at days 1-18??

Oh My Goodness! My son came in complaining of noisy eggs! One peeped and I well on his/her way out. I can't believe it. I still had them on the egg turner. I ran in and grabbed the egg carton out of fridge and placed them in it. I would attach a pic of it working its way out, but I can't get the pic from my phone to my email. I will check in again tomorrow.

Congrats on your new fuzzy butts!! And Welcome!!!
I have early hatchers this batch too..earliest came on day 19, about 12 hours after I moved them to the hatcher. I do dry incubation and then try to just let the humidity go as high as it will during lockdown..well apparently my RH in this area is still too high..chick 1 arrived textbook..chick 2 had some gunk stuck to it..noticed a pip that looked awful wet, so took out my sponge ans guess I'm going to keep my hatcher around 40/50% from here on out..I was worried about it being too low bc of doing the dry incu but guess I should have stuck with what worked before.. So far, everyone is pipped but 1 little banty egg.

Oh and as for darker eggs..what was mentioned earlier. .look for veining by air cell..that's my only option with some of my green and blue..I find with the smallest mag light I can find, I can see pretty good in there..my bf brought me home a light he found while fishing a week ago..it says Police something..on the side..it's got a glass breaker around the light so I had to wrap and cover that but so far it's the best light ever..I'll try to get a pic candling my darkest eggs..I don't think they're far enough along to see much but ill try..

How high do you normally go on lockdown with humidity? I run 30% (average) 1-18. Then this last time I was 75% on lockdown but everyone looked really good coming out.
