I don't take my dogs to other people's homes and don't appreciate it when people bring their dogs to my home either. I make an exception at Christmas when my dad comes down for the day with his poodle. But his dog stays crated except for pottie breaks. My dogs do not like other dogs and are very territorial. We live in the country. They don't go to doggie parks and learn how to play nice with others. They play nice among themselves and know that part of their job here is not allow strange dogs on the property. So it's hard for them to accept the scent of my dad's dog being all over the place.
For the record, I don't much care for people bringing their bratty kids here either. Why aren't kids nice and well behaved anymore? They scream, throw stuff in my koi ponds (even after being told not to), chase my little chihuahua because she is SOOOO cute, demand attention, walk in flower beds, pick stuff, Don't wipe their feet, shriek for no reason, the list goes on and on. At least it's legal to crate a dog. Crating bratty children is generally frowned upon.
My 3 year old grandson is NOT a bratty child. He is quiet, respectful, is gentle with my dogs, does not throw stuff in the koi ponds (although I do take him back to the big pond and let him throw rocks), asks before picking flowers (he can have all he wants because he DOES ask), and he takes his shoes off at the door! If more kids were like him I'd open a day care center!
