What is this Scabby & Enlarged Thing on Roo's Chest?

Day 5 update: Looking really good. Yesterdays vet wrap was removed this morning, so that air could circulate during the day (but it was protected while roosting). My adult helper was not available this morning, so no sharp implements were used and no puss was removed. However, I think I'll have adult helper on Thursday, but its a busy day for me, so hoping to be able to get this accomplished then. In the meantime, we soaked again, applied betadine, dried him, then applied neosporin + gauze pad+ vet wrap for the night. The enlarged sac looks smaller overall (hooray). Rooster still tolerating the treatment pretty well, although definitely having a helper has been, well, helpful!

Side view: This is where the large plug came off - it looks so much better than even yesterday. It seems to be somewhat smaller overall.

Front view: Most of it is light pink and seems smaller. Still need to address the puss (yellow areas), but really want a non-squeamish adult assistant (rather than a tween child), so need to wait to address the puss. But seems smaller and healthier.

Looks like infected feather folicals...

This may be true. I see a few brown, scabby parts, with the one being the worst (but that plug came off). So, since there are several spots that might be where the feathers were attached.
Then try use a pliers and pull out the feather.A bigger tweezer will need to be used.
