Over the years I've had plenty of chicken surprises, and my current flock co hosts of sexlinks, orphingtons, red rock, leghorns and a few funny feather legged things I cant remember the names of ... but I got this little bugger with a group of what was supposed to be rhode island reds.

What is it? It looks more like a weird science experiment gone wrong. It's now 6 weeks old and still only 4" high and barely feathering and has blueing around the eyes. Seems very healthy otherwise.

Aww, bantam cochins are too adorable for soup. :)

Yes. Seriously yard candy. too small for soup. It won't eat much!

We butcher chickens, so not against it, but sometimes, one or two earn "keep" status. Just to watch the fluff ball walk around will likely be entertaining!

Plus if it's a hen they generally are great broodies and moms. I have a soft spot for bantam cochins. :)
