what is to old of an egg to start incubating

How many days old can an egg before it is no good to start incubation.I am new to incubation of eggs.

It would be great to take some time to learn about the process. It's a very fascinating hobby. Here's a link, straight to our Learning Center (big brown tab above) that has tons of great information.

A properly stored egg, kept at 55F and turned a couple times a day, will have a reasonable chance to be incubated successfully if set when the egg is 20 days old or younger. The older the egg gets, even if stored properly, the chances start to sink like a rock in the pond after two weeks.
