Eggs expand when they freeze. It pushes and distributes the air sacks.

We're only getting a few eggs a day & they all went into the incubator. Hopefully everyone will start laying soon & I won't need to buy them at the store.

There were 2 out of 6 like this. I didn't pay attention to the membrane when I peeled it.

Odd that it's just the one egg. Could be it was right up against an especially cold area?
I also wonder if maybe it was some sort of issue where there were multiple tiny air sacs for some sort of internal-egg-factory reason. Were the pockmarks all lined with membrane like the air sack is?

I hear ya...with winter coming and laying slowing down it happens. If you have younger girls they might even wait till next spring to lay. I live in a very small town. One day I had to buy eggs and the sweet little cashier girl (20ish) gasped “OH NO! What happened to your chickens??”
There had been dogs that wiped out the flocks of two of my friends in my area.
Gotta love the care and concern of people in a small town.

ve come across this before. Generally just chalk it up to the bubbles in the water rolling hard and forcing into egg cracks while cooking.
