Pretty dogs, I also have 2 Australian shepherds, they are a pain in the butt, but entertaining.Malamutes. Gentle giants, great with kids, great with other dogs, never had to worry about people bothering us when we went for walks, and oddly, no sales people ever came by more than once... We had a pair that were massive. 150 and 165 pounds. I still haven't really recovered from losing them. We will absolutely get more in the future, my whole family misses them.
Loki: Who we lost to Cancer in 2014. He was 28" tall at the shoulder and knew how to sweep food off the table with his tail. Also liked ice cream.

Atka: Crossed over in 2016, heart failure. She was HUGE. 30" at the shoulder and I've never seen a dog with as massive a head as she had. Absolutely loved everything except cats. She used to go sunbathe in the yard and the tortoises would all come over and climb up on her belly to sun with her.

We have Aussie Shepherds now. They're great herding dogs and love to work, but they're very high strung and barky.
This is Copper. He's a Red Merle.

I'd probably have to say a Pyrenees, we had a Pyr/Lab mix, had the personality of a Pyr. She'd bark at any threat to our chickens or outside cats, and was also the most loving and patient dog there ever was. Sadly she passed away in October at the ripe old age of 15, best dog I've ever owned.

We have a Lab/Pyr too and yours sounds a lot like ours! More Pyr personality, extremely sweet and loving. He also has a goofy, playful side too though sometimes. But he's calm and mostly sleeps all day unless there's a threat or he wants to play. Outside he's more alert. Loveeeeeessss attention though. Kinda demands it tbh. We've spoiled him. He's an inside dog. But we just love him. Best dog. And a lot calmer than our Lab we used to have. He was truly an incredible dog too but SO MUCH ENERGY when younger. Gator has also protected the chickens a lot, sounds the alarm when anything is out there. The only thing he is bad with are hawks cause he's usually inside (barks a lot outside) and they're so silent.
But the mix really is a great mix.
Sorry you lost yours!![]()
