what kind of babies are we???

i have a question..

one of them has what looks like an oil spot on its back. iv'e tried to wash it off w/dishsoap but it comes back. the other two pick on it constantly...what should i do??? pls help iv'e never had geese before so im really novice at all this..

the oil gland is on the back at the base of the tail. It looks like a little short haired paintbrush amidst the down feathers. When you rub it with your fingers, you can see and feel the oil.

Some goslings chew on each others backs for "comfort" I think, I've not had one cause damage doing that. But they sure do slobber while they are doing it.

If what you are seeing as a spot of oil IS the oil gland, maybe the other baby is just attracted naturally to the oil.

I worry/worried over the least thing too. Still do. Like a brand new mother. I think I worried about my human babies LESS, in fact, because at least I understood them and knew kind of what to expect

the spot seemed to be on his/her back but its pretty much gone now...i think i was worried for no reason..

my friend Joni told me to give them something else to chew on so i threw in some grass n they seem to be doing just great now!!!!!!!
