It didn’t match up to rat snake when I considered, but good guess!Could be a young rat snake. I have a picture somewhere. I have to look for it. Good luck and have fun...

I think it’s a ball python because they are often sold in pet stores at this size, in order to trick customers into thinking they will STAY that size. They are also great escape artists/people often release them into the wild when they discover how large it will get.Maybe a Pygmy Ball Python.
Eastern Box turtle? In most states they have a 'protected status'.While we’re at it, does anyone know what kind of turtle this shell comes from? I found the shell and “chest plate” on a walk. It was just right there in all it’s glory.View attachment 2442533
That is probably the best bet. I don’t think it can be from anything else, I haven’t seen any other types of turtles besides the one snapping turtle (which I am certain is a snapper, because I was nearly a victim) It appears that the Box Turtle who’s shell this is, was lost to a predator before I found the shell. I’d hope I am allowed to keep the shell, since I am aware they are protected!Eastern Box turtle? In most states they have a 'protected status'.
Good idea! However, I’m trying not to go places right now, because cases are rising quite significantly around my areaCan you take these specimens to a local zoo for positive identification?
On second thought, since the turtle is protected, don't take it anywhere, as you could be fined and have it confiscated. Just keep researching. Good luck!Good idea! However, I’m trying not to go places right now, because cases are rising quite significantly around my area
Im not giving up! I’ll see what I can do to find out.
Wow lucky you!
No snakes here so can't help you with that.
Not all snakes are bad! The King Snakes in my area actually eat the venomous ones I hate, and never harm humans or my animals. However, I understand fears are not easily overcome! Many people are afraid of all spiders even if some are as harmless as flys! You are very lucky not to have any snakes. I'm deathly afraid of snakes and I live in Florida.
