I was thinking the same about Ariel. I have 5 PR and even my 1 year olds don't have a comb even approaching the one that Ariel has. I'm thinking she's a he. No saddle feathers yet but I don't know how old it is.

I was duped the same way when I got my first chickens this summer!

I didn't know any better, and when I wanted to figure out what color my Ameracaunas "technically" were, I figured out they were EEs! Too bad I didn't find BYC until after I bought those chickens! I have been mostly lurking, but learning tons...now there are too many kinds of chickens that I want!

My husband almost has the first coop done, and I think I can talk him into another coop because he seen a picture of silver laced wyandottes and thinks they are "cool looking". I think that it a sign to look for some...now to find a good source!

Sorry for being OT...

I was beginning to think she wasn't a Wyandotte. Can you explain about the feet color? I'm clueless.

Well I meant leg color, but Rocks are supposed to have yellow legs. From the pics, those legs look a pale slate or green color.

Ah, I didn't know that. They are a slate color.

I vote partridge rock, but with really washed out leg color. Sometimes older hen's yellowish legs can fade to a pale washed out color. After a break in laying, like during moult, the color can come back a bit. Also check for leg mites as they can make the legs look chalky/grey.

Interesting. I will check her out. She does look like a Partridge rock to me save the leg color. The other hen I got from the same woman is most definitely a mutt though. Leghorn mixed with something...
