a little random, but this moved me today... yes i was moved over a yoshinoya combo bowl... especially since they changed the bowls and the portion of the food... i understand us california people are fat, but why the bowls...?
here's my moment from today...
you go there and stand at the counter looking up... you're starving, and willing to pay almost 8 bucks for a huge meal with veggies, rice, beef, chicken and a clam chowder... you sit down with your large drink, and wait around staring at the people driving around in the drive thru... then they call up your number and you see this tiny little white styrofoam trey with little orange print... you think, man this thing is small, but it better be full to the rim... you open it up to throw a heaping amount of red ginger on top, and BAM!!!... the bowl is still a bowl... there's a huge void where the food should be... it is concave... like if there's an inch of rice missing...
okay whatever... you start eating the beef first left to right like always... then you hit the bottom of the styro tray... then you discover that the bottom tray is convex... OMGWTHisGOINGON!!!!!!!!!!!!?????... almost 8 bucks for this lie..? man... the combo bowl picture on the menu is a facade... after you finish the bowl you feel empty... like someone else just took an inch and a half of rice, 2 strips of chicken, 4 strands of beef, 2 broccoli, 1 cauliflower, and some slices of carrots right before you sat down...
i still haven't gotten over it... the void of missing food gets replaced by a single tear on my cheek... my memories of the old style yoshinoya combo bowls are nostalgic wonderments of my past... i will never have that feeling of coming home after a long trip or vacation when i see the little orange logo of a bowl with the word "yoshinoya" in between the lid and the bowl itself...
i need a moment...
