What predator killed my Muscovy ducks? (Graphic images)

All I can say about relocating is you make your problem someone else's . Cruel but kill it , There are plenty more to take it's place . You wouldn't relocate a rat would you?

Well I know that I locate far from anyone, we live in the country near lots of mountains so it’s not too hard to find a place for relocation.

And I know this sounds crazy but yes I would relocate a rat :lau

I will relocate something that does not carry Rabies. Raccoons get killed because of the high likelihood they could be carrying Rabies. Poisonous snakes get killed because I could get killed relocating those or I could end up hospitalized which would mean my chickens would be killed.. it depends on what it is and if its a problem animal for the area I relocated it to. I have no problem with those who do kill everything caught, not my place to tell others what to do but I do like to warn people about the problems that Possums cause for Horses so people can make the best decision possible if they relocate. And if others know of other specific issues certain animals have with certain types of farms, nieghborhoods or industries I like to know about them so I could make a more informed decision if I end up catching certain animals.

We got 5 Muscovy ducks in the summer thinking we were giving them a good life. At about 6 wks old they decided to dump the coop and go to the pond. We could not contain them any longer although they visited daily for food. Then one night 2 ducks disappeared- I saw feathers but no body. A week later 2 more vanished then last night the final drake just gone. We do have predators but the weird part is no evidence of a struggle. We did find feathers out in the woods. We hate we could not protect them. They are very wild in nature but not very agile. Even though they would roost on a barge many times they’d sleep on the pond’s edge- not safe. It’s sad.

So sorry for your loss. When you have them and they are dependent on you for food, they need to be protected. Most likely a fox or coyote would be my guess. If you have a game camera, put it up and most likely you will find out what has been lurking and what killed them. Good luck...

We have lots of game cameras but have not caught anything on our pond camera. We wanted to get them in their enclosure at night but they refused.
