White chickens are magical.I thought I remembered that’s what she was! She is such a beautiful lady and I do have a complete lack of all white birds in my flock. I will have to move them up on the list for Spring.

She has. I weighed her last night. Of course I don't have the weight handy. She is still lighter than Niamh though. I remember that.Tilly's filled out!
I'm sorry that had to happen.Sleep well, BlackJack. View attachment 4249659
View attachment 4249661He went for the kid. Weighed him when I came in for my kit and he was 15 pounds. Got 3.4lbs of breast and thigh meat from him, which is crazy. As sad as I am to lose such a hefty, good rooster, I will not tolerate attacks on the kid.
CowSpots and Owl had a heck of a time moving the looker-ons along. Hopefully the flock re-accepts Owl as a rooster.

I hope she gets well soon.More Issues
I'm sorry I haven't been around everyone but I have been dealing with another sick chicken almost from the day Niamh got better.
Something, either trauma or neurological is stopping Joy from being able to use her right leg. She had been to the vet twice and neither possibility can be ruled out.
She currently is living in my office with me. She gets to see Niamh every day when she comes in the house and on nice days I take her out for field trips in the yard.
This started back on 10/26. She saw the vet on 10/27. Here she is at that visit.

I nearly lost her on November 3rd. I had been letting her roam the Cluckle Hut as she was using the leg some at that point but unknown to me, I think she stopped being able to reach her food and water.
This is her at the second vet appointment on 11/5

I did get to her on time and like Niamh I syringe fed her for 12 hours until she started eating and drinking on her own again. That's when I moved her inside so I can monitor her eating and drinking.
She has regained a little font l function with her leg. In this video, right at the start, you can see her pull her leg under her for the first time since she came into the house.
The biggest help to us has been her deciding that mash is pretty good. As a general rule, my ladies don't eat mash. Joy eating mash keeps me from having to syringe her meds into her. Now her morning mash has all her medicines in it. That means Mrs BY Bob can take care of her without my assistance now.
We have no idea how long this will take. I know that @RoyalChick dealt with something similar and it was weeks until Bernie recovered.
For now, we are doing what we can to keep things interesting for her. With play dates and field trips. I am putting one of those song bird videos they on youtube which are designed for cats, to help entertain her. There does seem to be a reaction from her when I put it on.

All of this has left little time for BYC. I will try to stay engaged now as things have settled into a routine of sorts. I've missed you all.

Thank you.I hope she gets well soon.![]()
