Our 2 does are NZ/Beveren. They are getting really large at 5 months. Their dad (Beveren) was huge. Mom (NZW) was pretty large as well. Both were white. The Beveren had blue eyes and the NZW had the red eyes. Our girls have different shades of agouti (I think that's what it's called). One has blue eyes and one has blue and brown eyes mixed together. Pretty weird and we love their uniqueness. What don't you like about the NZ and what do you love about the Beverens? I am trying to figure out what breed of buck I want to get. Am doing my research now. Won't be breeding until September due to their age and already soaring heat here.

DH is interested in the flemish giant. I am considering a NZW or red, also the american blue. I am open to your opinion on any breed. Mostly for our backyard homestead. If I can sell some for pets or breeders, that would be fine. Mostly just for our family.

What I read about Flemish giant when looking to get into rabbits was they have a horrible feed to meat ratio. They do get huge but cost you a lot more per pound to get that big.
I don't know how accurate that is, but I found a lot of people saying that.
Supposedly the NZ's were supposed to be one of the best at feed to meat.
Though all my animals are horrible with that, I feel like I am forever at TSC. I think they must overeat, even though none are fat, & waste a bunch.

My one Flemish rescue eats almost a POUND a day :th and she's only 12lbs. We read some people use them to cross breed meat bit honestly, the bone/feed isn't worth what lil meat on that big huge bunny.

While I could never eat one of mine, French lops were originally bred for meat production. My pair are very efficient on feed they actually eat less than my mini lop pair.Plus the buck weighs in at almost 25 lb.I could see were french mixes would make great meat animals.
