Love them! I love Mini Satins!

My only doe of the 3 babies (the one that had the black otter pattern I loved so much) was dead in the cage this morning

No idea why.
They're all the same size, all snuggling together (even after she was dead still snuggling), mom had been feeding them all...
She didn't hurt it or try to eat it or anything, it was just lying there dead with her 2 brothers.

Feeling sad this morning, she was my favorite baby

Thank you :) We had originally bought him as a breeding buck. But when he arrived (had him sent down by a pet transport company), I saw he had a slip penis. I am very annoyed with the person who sold him to us, as she said absolutely nothing about it at the time of sale. All she said was that she wanted to move him on. I kinda thought that was a bit strange at the time, but really should have kept persisting for better answers :( I have bred him to one of our does in the hope that we will get a true dwarf buck that doesn't carry that gene, and will most likely end up selling Chubby unfortunately.

I feel your pain!. I had a Holland buck with slip penis, very annoying!!

Nice! ARBA shows are definitely a different feel. Much more competitive. But they can be fun. I have an adult Mini Rex who weighs 5 or 6 pounds. He's big boned, and he's evil. Good luck with your line! I don't show too much anymore, considering my rabbits are getting older (4-5 years) and my best show rabbit passed away in March. :/

Srry to hear that, my buns are only 1yr. I still show my 5yr old Dutch buck. But I think he's done with his shows, but I will see how he does next year.

Awww. So sorry. Some babies just aren't meant to survive it seems.

What does a split penis look like? I need to make sure my bucks don't have that. Can they not breed successfully?
Depends on how bad it is. If it's just the tip, the buck can still breed, but of course that means he can pass it on to his offspring, and they may be worse.

You know the flip-him-over-and-press-here drill that you have to do to check. When you do, a normal (or nearly normal) buck's penis will stick pretty much straight up. If it bends back toward his belly, look closely at it, because ones like that are more likely to be split. Usually, the split will be facing you, but you may have to get real personal with him and move it around a bit to actually see the split. A really, really bad split will go all the way down the length of the shaft, and the whole thing will open up like a doe's vulva - obviously, a buck like that has a very hard time breeding. He may go through all the motions, but it's pretty unlikely that the doe will become pregnant.

@dutchbunny83 - so sorry about the baby. Raising rabbits can be very frustrating and disheartening at times.

I raise mini rex for show and sale. I have 8. I raise the colors, Castor, otter, black, and broken in those varieties. :) (I don't know how to upload photos)
