Best guess based on this website, is a black racer. Looks like you only have a couple of venomous snakes in WV and that's a rattle snake and copper head. Definitely doesn't look like those to me.

Thank you very much for that link! - I agree, Black-Racer looks as the best match. Glad it is not a venomous snake, but still i fear for my ducklings.

Somewhat difficult to look under there, it is a large porch and is surrounded by vegetation. But we use it a lot and make a lot of noise, which i assume snakes don't like…?

Oh in fact it is! I wish the snake would chase me, i have rubber boots, a shovel, a spade, … bring it on snake! - As long as it isn't venomous…

Some types of snakes will lunge at you in an attempt to scare you away, thinking you a predator. Please don't kill them for it, they aren't actually trying to hurt you. I'm ok with snakes, they can eat all the rodents around my house - i know Blanca Duck will disagree with that, she wants all mice in her belly - but when it comes to my ducks and ducklings i get mad, just ask the raccoons here. - Wait, you can no longer ask them…
