Keep in mind, it wasn't planned.....

I was out tonight, after mowing some tall grass, working on moving the girls fenced in-run over onto some fresh grass. When I'm in the yard, I usually let them have the run of the place. Our terrier mix started going nuts in the area I just mowed, and I walked over and knelt down to see what she had....she had found a mouse nest full of babies. She's off dispatching the momma mouse, and since the girls see me kneeling, they know something cool is about to happen...

They found the nest before I did, and they did their ancestors in the Jurassic Park movie proud....five hens running full tilt in opposite directions with a tiny baby mouse in their beaks.

The other five are nosing around, like, what nothing left?

I don't think I can beat baby mice

..... but they had a good day today, leftover Steak and baked beans with some banana ..... They loved it.

cantalope, watermelon left overs, & BOSS - for mine and neighbor's chickens and the big ducks...and the Indian Runners and Muscovy babies got smooties - chilled smoothie mix of cantelope, watermelon, and strawberries.

Farm Jamie - yes my neighbor's oldest hens and big rooster were out when i was feeding treats sharing what looked to be a lizard.

kinda hard to tell, wasn't much identifiable = lol

I am wondering about these mice - my cats bring them to me "as presents" I think, just about every night. In the morning I find them on the deck, in the yard, left about here & there. Can I give these already dead mice to my chickens? Is that healthy?

Another question - Yogurt seems to be a favorite, but has anybody tried jello?

blueberries for the last 2 weeks and cantaloupe and cole slaw today and yesterday. They will probably get blueberries for another week or 2. I have 5 huge bushes at their peak right now

A grated up Zucchini squash that got WAY too big in my garden

and for dessert they got the cobs from 1/2 dozen sweet corn ears I roasted on the grill tonight.
