What Special Treat or Yummy Did Your Flock Get Today?

Mine are getting left over beef stew tonight. Yesterday, they had strawberry tops with macaroni and cheese. Crunched up some egg shells into the mix for good measure. It is just like having a bunch of little pigs.

Mine got watermelon rinds yesterday and a whole cold cabbage today. I haven't been letting them out to free-range because it is dry and hot here and they like to dust bathe in the garden in the nice shade under the plants, so they particularly enjoyed the cabbage. Maybe I'll get to have some of my garden produce something before the chickens kill all the roots of the plants!

I need to say that my chickens LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE blueberries!!! They go absolutely NUTS over them! It's like chicken crack!

With the high heat here I have been giving mine cool, cold or frozen treats. Frozen juice bars, cold berrys, cold corn on the cob... yesterday I soaked some left over rice in cold milk for them... they loved it!!!! Chilled hard boiled eggs, watermelon, and wet clover from the yard~

My MIL's dog died and she gave me several bags of leftover Begin' Strips. I have been shredding them up and they LOVE them. They also free range for several hours every night for greens. They also get all left over food and bread daily. My hubbies hound dogs are jealous.

they got some tomatoes, green beans, squash, and cilantro last night. they also got to run about 3/4 acre for 4 hours after i got home, which was a treat compared to being in the coop/run all day.

On todays menu was a Mexican Fiesta-nachos I made last night. They LOVED them. Ole'!

My 6-week old pullets got a small leftover venison steak and they loved it! It was the first time that I've given them some meat.
They didn't like the raw broccoli though!
