What Special Treat or Yummy Did Your Flock Get Today?

The bloodmeat and scraps from a nice mahi mahi that my husband caught. I cut it up in small bits and the girls go crazy!

Last night they had some grass cuttings from our "chicken grass patch", some scratch, a bit of BOSS and pineapple (core and skin). They didn't like the pineapple and my husband was insulted. It was one of his babies. I let him know I thought it was delicious (it was fresh off the plant and quite yummy). They also were given one of our FL huge yellow and orange grasshoppers. They said, "Thanks but no thanks" and he got out of the run untouched. Husband was disappointed with that reaction too.

We gave them some yougutr & cut up apples. They turned up their beaks at the apples. Maybe they were cut to big.

Now today they got a real treat ....... they found a toad. You should have seen them fighting over it, one chicken had each an arm, leg or other body part and was trying to run in different directions. Poor toad .......

Some tomato, but more importantly... Japanese beetles that are destroying my garden! They can have all they want!

Ewwww ... that reminds me of the day we found two giant slugs and gave them to the chickens. Seven chickens ran in, grabbed a bite, and ran in all different directions. There was no sign of the slug; it had been divided into seven nasty parts!

Yesterday my crew got leftover cake minus the frosting and seemed to enjoy it very much. Today they got BOSS, bell pepper scraps, celery, zucchini trimmings and ice cubes in the waterer. It's been over a hundred every day and they look forward to those ice cubes.

My little flock of 5 enjoyed a fine breakfast of plain yogurt sprinkled with wheat germ and topped with blueberries. It was gone in minutes.
