What to do with bazillions of apples????

Someone on the SS site was asking about making a homemade cider press and I had read about making one using some scrap lumber and a car jack. I will try to find that article and post more on that. Cider presses are expensive!

Before the plug in dehydrators were everywhere, we used to dry our fruit out in the sun on fine mesh racks. They would stack one on top of the next, so that bugs couldnt get in. It worked really well, but I have no idea where you could buy them... If you are handy, it would be pretty easy to make them with a thin 9x12 wood frame, some fine wire mesh and a staple gun

It's like Bubba and shrimp.... only me and apples.....

Apple pie
Apple crisp
Apple dumplings
Apple butter
Baked apples
Dried apples
.................... and on and on... I'm sure I could come up with more... like Apples and Porkchops! Mmmmmmmmmm

I also believe anything that can be made outside or in the dehydrator, can also be made inside your oven.

Good luck. I'm jealous of the apples. My neighbor across the street has an orchard of Granny Smith's. I'm going to ask if I can have some come fall.

I grew up on small apple orchard ( 100+ trees ) and we always took the bushels of drops to the cider mill. We had gallons and gallons and sold some. Call around and see what they charge, but the stuff is sooooo good. Not sure how many apples you are talking about but it does take a lot to get the cider. It's worth the effort.

I am gonna definitely figure out a way to dry some...I LOVE dried apples.
