When these toes are damaged from mites they don't drop off like frostbitten toes do. This toe is probably very painful, and I would need to see it debrided first, but I bet this hen would recover faster with this toe removed.I understand that she doesn’t think it was frostbite from the OP’s earlier post. But necrotic toes from whatever reason can drop off eventually. When she cleans them where it looks necrotic, she may be able to tell if there is live tissue underneath if it bleeds.
