'gods'? Typo, I'm sure, but you'll want to fix that.it looks like some of the gods might be dead
Stupid new tablet! Meant to write "toes".'gods'? Typo, I'm sure, but you'll want to fix that.
Don't feel bad, I found one of mine like this just the other day.I thought the mites were well under control and treated when I started my own chickens, thinking they would be ok. Today I realized how wrong I was! I should’ve known better with how the chickens were when I got here.
If you soak them long enough you should be able to get most of that crud off. If you can do that, then take more pictures, I am pretty sure we can tell you if a toe news to be amputated. I can take some pictures of the hen i just treated it that will help. She had a little bleeding yesterday at the middle toenail on the third pic... do you think with soaking the dead sections will fall off on their own? I’m terrified at the thought of hurting her any further.
I searched perhaps someone might find something different. Mostly it stated metals that were injested. Or if given orally (in large quantities) could be toxic. Seems dogs are sensitive (licking) to zinc oxide. If she were mine i would soak her feet and legs in warm water until all scales and crud softened. Then I would remove excess crud. IMO, it looks like some of the toes might be dead, so you might want to think about cutting those off. I'm on a tablet right now, but will mark up some pictures showing what goes look dead. I would also trim her nails back.
About the ointments... Diaper rash cream contains zinc oxide i think, which can be toxic. The antibiotic cream with pain relief is not toxic unless a whole bunch gets ingested. I can find some posts by a vet if you're interested.
