Newbie to chickens. Gave my 6 girls cooked noodles tonight and boy was it a funny sight. I just loved watching them chase each other around with that look of "Hey where's mine?"

This will sound bad to some but.... Honey Chipolata Chicken... they love fried chicken of any kind but they also love sweet spicy sauces. They don't get fried often but when they do they fight over every bite.

Well ... our 6 girls got a bowl of oatmeal ... dressed up a bit with cut apples, celery and some steel cut oats.... and a crust of bread that I broke up into pieces and oh yeah, raisins. And then the best part... sprinkled a new thing we've done... chicken bone meal. They really love that ... we picked up a #22 food grinder that's on the heavy duty side and took all our saved chicken/game hen bones and ground them up and just like magic it's a delicious treat.

what kind of oatmeal mixtures do some of you use for a treat i wanted to give my chicks a treat tonight and the only thing i got in the house that i can think of is oatmeal

I add in some jam, strawberry is there favorite.

lettuce, leftover beef stew, macaroni, grapes, and some old biscuits.
I also like to toss out some distillers for them to scratch through. We get a semi load of it to feed the cattle during the winter and the chickens go crazy for it. If you never heard of distillers, its pretty much the by product of corn. Cattle love it and eat it like candy. And as I have found out, my hens love it as well.

I cook them but not very long with steel cut, maybe 2 to 5 min on the oven and then mix in the jam and then server. Mine like it crunchy.
