Peaches! They were a hit!

This morning, the chickens got papayas, bananas and BOSS.  In the afternoon, they got all the left over rice from the night before.  Right before returning to their henhouse for their evening feed and lock down, I fried them up a treat of fresh salmon and fresh ahi.  This bowl of fish was finished in seconds flat!

Ahi?! That's music to my ears-my kuukane is a commercial lawai'a and we often have a chunk in our reefer. I had no idea they ate that! The pigs get the bones (what I'm willing to share anyway) but never thought of my girls getting any. Think they can eat raw? Or is cooked the way to go? They love papaya, star fruit, rolinnia, avocado...pretty much anything that's fallen off the trees. Giving them mango today for the first time and I cannot wait!

yesterday...milk and flaxseed meal w/a cockroach that i found running across the floor. Mm, they fought over the roach. the milk was eaten slowly, afterwards.

Huckelberries - are you in the NW? I remember spending some wonderful times huckleberry picking with my family when I was growing up - never cared much for the berries, but quite enjoyed the excursions.
