What treat did your chickies get today?

So, I *think* my older two are around 4wks old... I tried apple today. I just learned that you can "treat" chickens. (I'm new lol). They wanted nothing to do with it. They are super flighty and scared of me. I havn't handled them much.

any ideas?

Today I gave my 17 week old's dandelion leaves, a piece of watermelon and some grass clippings

My chickens are 6 weeks and just started eating treats. They just ate a strawberry from my hand this week. First time they've eaten from my hand. Don't worry. They might just be slow to the whole treat thing. I handled my chickens multiple times a day and still whenever I put something out, they acted like I was trying to poison them.

Today they got weeds (mmmm!

) and some leftover peach which they picked clean!

I gave them hot dog buns. I have some cantaloupe rind and guts in the freezer but it wasn't very warm today. The forecast said 90 for a high and I don't even know if it hit 80. So accurate.

As far as being flighty-our chickens know who brings the treats now and will flock around the gate and fence when we go over there. If we stand there they will come around our feet and even peck at our boots (mine have flowers on them) but if we reach down or start to walk they will scatter. Can't really blame them. I'm fine with them being like this. I don't want to be tripping over chickens when I'm walking around in there.

There is an absolute riot when I go out with raisins. My ten 15 week old girls love raisins. They love yogurt, too, but it's very messy.

Wasp larve. Had occasion to knock down a large red wasp nest ,so I tore it apart, picked out the larve and fed em to the girls. They went crazy for them and I had the twin satisfactions of making them happy and knowing there's a few less of the nasty stinging buggers in the world.

Not a treat for the faint of heart though....
