What treat did your chickies get today?

On thanksgiving they got everything that remained when the leftovers were packaged. It was mostly turkey scraps. A one gallon Ziploc bag of meat scraps was gone in 10 minutes.
Yesterday it poured rain all day so I didn't put anything out except the food in their coops.
Today they're getting the turkey carcass, some leftover couscous and the shrimp heads and tails.
If I set a trap tonight, tomorrow they'll get a grilled coon or possum.

I give fruits and veggies but not if I can't offset that with some good animal protein.

Yesterday they got the innards from the turkey, and some squash guts and seeds. Then later a suet feeder with apple, cabbage, lettuce, grapes, and corn.

today they got some scrambled eggs lol

Hey wildwestcoast my gals get scrambled eggs once a week and when they are not laying due to moulting, broodiness [being bantams, more often than not

] or just plain, taking a break, I buy eggs to scramble and feed them! Yes, I see the irony

Anyways, today was mixed leaf lettuce, tomatoes and BBQ steak.

The two 5 gallon buckets are filled with a mix of chopped celery, broccoli and zucchini, some cranberries, mixed salad greens, bread and other misc things...

Lucky chickens! Do raw cranberries need to be chopped?
Sadly after getting produce that the grocery store throws away (inspired by you), I was told it is against their policy to donate it as someone who received free produce complained their animals got sick. I haven't tried again. Other stores send food that is not perfect to the food bank. At least it doesn't go to waste. So sad it goes in the garbage! Not even composted which our garbage service does.
