Cocci is one of those things that all chickens carry, kinda like dogs, they all carry mange but some dogs immune systems allow it to express. Cocci however once shed is one of those things that then become contagious to others as they step in stool and they eat off something that has it on it. At 2-3 weeks is when they are most susceptible to it expressing though older birds have been known to show it from time to time under the right (but wrong) situations. Hang in there lady!!

Thank you so much. It's crazy how 2-3 week old chicks can get sick from this inside a house! Ugh. Just sent you a PM with everything I got accomplished in the last few hours. That is the most sanitized bathroom on earth at the moment. To include thier butts and feet. I will change the newspaper hourly. I think the yogart and meds will help

Thank you everyone for your help and concern. I was truely at my wits end. Now I am going to remop all my floors in the house, put everything in the washing machine and spray lysol everywhere. It can't hurt.

Now if I could just have one nice 95 degree day where I could give the chicken a poultry protector dip! Guess I will just have to spray them. Cleaning out the coops on Monday. I do it monthly 100%. I wish chickens could be litter trained.......ahhhh what a wonderful life it would be

I had bought a bunch of polish chicks of varying ages from a few days old to a few weeks old. I only had them a couple days when they started dying one at a time till they where all gone. They would be all fine eating running around sleeping andpooping like chicks do then one would get droopy and sleep a very long time wake up and stand there then go back to sleep. Once it was on it's side it would have like convulsions and die. Once they got droopy they whre dead in less than 24 hours. I had no idea what the problem was and didn't know what to do for them. I had other chicks of my own that where fine. So it wasn't the food. I cleaned out the polish chicks brooder and sterilized their waterer with bleach twice a day when I gave them fresh water. The youngest died first and the oldest died last. The oldest one always chirped real loud when it pooped. It wasn't active. It would have it's chirping poop, hop off the perch eat and drink and get back up on the perch and go to sleep. I informed the breeder of what happened and he said none of the others was sick. Mine wheren't sick so I had no idea what was going on. I of course didn't get replacements from him.

Now I know what to do if that happens again. I hardly loose chicks and if I do it's only maybe one.

I'm sorry you lost so many and I do hope the sulmet is the cure. I'm sure they know what they're talking about. Good luck and i'm sending healing wishes your way.

That is exactly what happened here. I am sorry to hear about your polish. It's just heart breaking. These are more than "just chickens" . I really do love the little guys. Picking up oxine in the am. I hope everyone makes it. Almost water and yogurt time again. No pasty butts but the weak ones have not pooped in a hour. Hmmmm. Hopefully the yogurt will kick in. You guys are awesome for understanding.

I would be interested in your knowledge. Please share how you would handle it again.

Dear Hubby surprised me by thinking outside the box and getting me a chicken related VDay gift. I love it! It's purple, my fav. color, and an antique. Perfect.
