ATTENTION TO ALL THOSE THAT MAKE TOTES OUT OF FEED BAGS
I made a deal with somebody to make me a few totes and I would send a box of feed bags. I would get a couple totes from the bags I sent and who ever it was that was going to do this for me was to keep the rest of the bags for themselves. My problem is I don't remember who it was I was suppose to send them too. :he I had it written down but can't find it. :barnie If the person I was talking to about this sees this post PLEASE PM me. :bow Thank you and everybody can continue on now. :caf
It was me ,i have been out most of the day!

Why, specifically, do you hatch in bottomless egg crates?

No challenge here... I'm curious and am always trying to improve my skills.
I have the eggs in turners, so hatching this way keeps them upright like they were in the turners and getting in the right position to hatch and keeps them at roughly the same heat level in the still air. And it keeps the mess to a minimum.....usually

I wondered if positioning had something to do with it.

Four years ago, one of my andalusian pullets hatched out the bottom end of the egg... no help at all. I didn't breed her until her second year. Some of her offspring hatched out the bottom as well, without any help. Now on her fourth year, one of her daughters' offspring had chicks where 9 out of 10 were upside down in the egg and I lost probably 6 out of 10 of them. Very upsetting as this particular girl is probably the best Andalusian I've ever bred. Maybe next year I'll be SURE to put her eggs in bottomless egg crates. Maybe I'll get better hatches!

Thank you.

One of my friends ENTIRE silkie flock got wiped out by a predator yesterday. Does anyone want to trade Serama eggs for silkie eggs next week so I can help get him started again.

I can do as few as 6 or as many as 18

PM me please.

Rachael

Me too. Been working with the chickens. I managed to get the pen the silkie youngsters are in sanitized today among lots of other stuff. I'll get that box out to you next week.

Me too I worked on moving chicks around, putting grow out pens together, moving Seramas to pens according to flock size, I'm tired. Tomorrow I need to clean brooders :p
