What's everyone's favorite breed and why?

I love my araucana! The blue eggs, the roosters are the most docile I ever thought I'd meet. I can't wait for my three babies to grow up!

Leghorns in their many varieties are my favorites. To my eyes there is no more beautiful chicken.

So far my favorite personality-wise are my Australorp and my Cochins! The Cochins are cuddle bugs and love to sit on my lap. My Australorp is extremely friendly and loves to perch on my arm.

Depends on what you want them for. To me the australorps are the best egg layers both in size, reliability and longevity. Brown leghorns are great at free ranging and lay nice big white eggs but only during warm months. EE's lay nice colored eggs of various sizes but not reliably but tend to be more friendly. Again, having had over 20 different breeds, I'd say it a personal choice and may depend on the individual bird rather than breed.

Honestly, ohiki. had some culls years ago i fell in love with never bred em ended up buying some from Boggy Bottoms back then and recently decided to get more because I told myself if i ever got chickens again that'd be one i had to have again and i think that will always be true . Now i look around and some of the con artists have made it pretty difficult =[ did manage to get ahold of BB and get 3. some folks are selling birds as ohiki that are phoenix X cochins...or phoenix X ohiki people dont want to wait for those pretty tails =[

@ present: Campines. Wouldn't be everyone's choice. They aren't cuddlers. They are smart, independent, screaming scavengers ~ but so much fun. Waaay more interesting that my more docile friendly birds.
