What's for Dinner?

@KLIL I have a question about wombats. Are there any in your area? Are there more than one kind? I see photos of people holding them. I am assuming they aren't that tame in the wild?

There is wombats in the wild but I have never seen one. But I have patted and held one in a zoo that was tame. They do run fast surprisingly but. They live in burrows in the grown. When I held one the lady was saying that there was afew types. Not sure how many but or what the difference is.

Where I grew up (4 hours west of Sydney) they were around - when I was a kid I didn't ever actually see one but in recent years (droughts maybe) I have seen them quite a lot - mainly as roadkill but I think I have seen a couple live ones as well! I've never held one (was that Australia Zoo you did that @KLIL ?). No in the wild they wouldn't let you get near them! They have very powerful front legs and huge claws for digging so while they wouldn't bite you (I don't think) they could do damage! I wanted to say there are 2 species but I just checked and there is in fact 3 types:

Do people try to eat them thing's? If they do, I wouldn't want to be invited to dinner! :sick I think it sort of resembles a river rat.

No - I think you can eat them - the Aboriginals would have as part of thier traditional diet and I believe the settlers did when they had to live off the land but no now people don't - no wombat steak! They are protected and a marsupial so not related to rats! In build and size they are more like a badger - they are reallllllllllly stocky and strong!

Sometimes it's amazing what different types of animals are in some countries but not in other's, isn't it?
