Crowing
They are all iris, the top one is called Rockstar, I've lost the name of the others. I'm terrible about keeping track of names.

I dont know about the others, but tomatoes only need watering with fertalizer now and then just to get a few ripe tomatoes. We have a vegetable garden. I am an awful farmer. Admittedly i seem to be learning something new each year. This year i did some soil prep, added some fertilizer and still it seems a few months kater and not much is growing, things are getting yellow. We have green beans, okra, squash, corn, kale, tomatoes, and wax and lima beans as well. Everything did well for a while, but just as things began to produce it seemed to fizzle out and many leaves got yellow. Doesnt make much sense to me as ive been feeding weekly with a healthy dose of fish fertilizer. The tomatoes, green beans, kale, and okra seem to be doing alright.
Theres a fellow down the road who planted later than i did and it seems his garden looks 3 times better than mine! Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

Interesting. How do you keep your chickens outta your garden??? I cant seem to figure it out, their making a mess outta my mom's hostas. For work I manage a garden center, so sometimes it feels like all I do is rescue sad plants. Our house had been neglected for a number of years and a long time ago someone had a lot of flower beds. I've been working my way through them!

The green ground cover coming over the bricks is like chicken candy, when it spreads too far it pulls up easy and I feed it to them. Pretty sure it's a type of sedum, it came with the property so it didn't have an ID tag.

Last summer I rescued 6 varieties of hardy Hibiscus and devoted a bed to them. They all came back this year! Anxiously awaiting their blooms! Tried to kill off the yucca but it came back with a vengeance. It's going to bloom this year. Did some reading on Yucca, apparently there's medicinal properties to it. One of my pigs was going into labor and when she was nesting, she specifically dug up a yucca and took the root to her nest. I figured she knew something I didn't! Apparently it's an anti-inflammatory among other things.View attachment 1817066
It is a hardy plant,,,,, and I have one. Actually a group of them in a few square foot area. Had it for about 35 years. I get one or two blooms each year. When that bloom passes, that part of plant also passes. I then see new sprouts come up from the roots. Those are the ones that will bloom in a year or two.Tried to kill off the yucca but it came back with a vengeance.
