ETA: expecting Lake Effect snow in an area I need to drive though.
I can drive in nasty weather, but Lake Effect scares the poo out of me.

Holy moly! Now THAT is nasty cold!  Even without a breeze...lol.

May I ask what kind of chickens you have? I'm always interested in hearing about other people's cold tolerant varieties.

Even though it's cold here I wouldn't trade our east central Alberta winters for the ones Manitoban's endure. We at least have a hope of a chinook.

They are barred rock crossed with RIR, commercial girls from one of the Alberta hatcheries.
