We have actual -50 without figuring in the windchill around here.

How are your birds doing? We’re getting - 20° tomorrow with windchill at -45°. I’m worried a bit about my chickens, but they’re out of the wind/breeze/drafts, so I’m thinking they’ll be ok.

27ºF (-2.7C) at 6:30 pm. I don't know about tomorrow night here. It will be low single digits, maybe a little below 0F; we have no snow. We're almost tropical here!
I will be interested in hearing how everyone's chickens do this week.....

We’re at 10°F right now, which is the high for the day. We’re heading dooown....to -9°F real temp, with 18-20mph winds, gusting higher. My weather app has been about 10° off (too high) nearly every day the low temps are extreme, for the last couple weeks. I’m thinking it’ll be off again & we’ll end up with a low near to -20°F real temp. We’ve already hit -18°F this winter, which was predicted to be a low of 2°F. lol...only 20° off! Local reports are saying -35°F including the windchill. So, who the heck knows?!Forecasts are poop these days & it’s hard to know when to prepare.

To be safe, we’re getting the generator set up down there & hooking up heat lamps, just in case we need it. Good luck to all!

BTW, small intro: I’m 49 this year, married, no kids & I run Avian Vista Farm, a small egg farm in Goodrich, MI (near Flint) w 120 predominantly heirloom chickens...dozens of breeds. There you go. lol
