Unfortunately they don't work here. The humidity is too high.

When I was a kid in Texas, my dad got one from somewhere. He put it in his bedroom window. He didn't hook it up to water, but at night he would take the garden hose and wet down the pads. It did raise the humidity a good bit, but it cooled the room down REALLY good. Enough that all us kids wanted to hang out in daddy's room. But honestly, I don't think the heat and humidity were this high back then
