I take it you normally get a lot of snow and cold out there? It’s incredibly mild here, and hardly any snow. But we have had a lot of rain. I am sure ground moisture will be an issue here this Spring for farmers.

No we don’t. I grew up in Minnesota where I expected that type of weather. Normally we get to about -5 or so for a week and about 30 inches of snow for the entire season. I’ve been in Iowa for 25 years and don’t ever recall -21. Although we have had some 1-2 foot snowfalls about every 4-5 years. I ended up using snowshoes to feed and water the ladies. First time in years that there was enough snow in Iowa to even wear them. I’m sure glad I had them. The drifts were 2-3 feet in some places. What was funny when I got to them, they didn’t want to escape to the frozen tundra. They were perfectly happy being in their run. Gotta love chickens!

Oh dear, that’s darn cold it’s been so crazy this winter, like a rollercoaster ride; what is normal for your location?

Yes it is cold. The normal for us is 20-30 below but we had a two week stent on 40-50f below. And yes very rollercoastery!
