Speaking of mosquitoes
Polar vortex finally got ‘em in January … I hope

They have mosquitoes? What exactly is Polar vortex? I am quoting wikipedia
"polar vortex, is a large region of cold, rotating air; polar vortices encircle both of Earth's polar regions"
Is that a bit too cold for mosquitoes?

Still raining over here........... yah NOT.
I got 10 boxes of Mosquitoes coils from Aldi for my chicken runs.
I get bitten around 4/5pm from the afternoon in the garden. More mosqitoes =fowl pox. A while back our chickens all got this dry fowl pox and then we put on mosquitoes coils in summer ever since.

We were pretty warm until this past Monday Jan 6 when the artic air blew in and hopefully killed the mosquitoes larvae
The meteorologist called it a polar vortex

Now I get it. I was wondering what is the polar vortex and still not sure exactly about it with the mosquitoes. We have plenty of mosquitoes over here.

41° and soon cold enough to snow. We have clear skies so that is not going to happen tonight. More frigid nights soon. 3rd straight colder than normal winter for us so it seams.

If we don’t have a good freeze to kill them
They keep coming back when it’s warm
And they will be really bad during the hot months
