37F this morning, 1st day in a couple months above freezing at night.

I'm in No. Central West Virginia...it was -11 (that's not a typo, yes MINUS 11 Degrees) this morning! I hope I don't find chicken-pops when I go to feed and water this morning!

Yesterday, the radio said Alaska was averaging 40 degrees, it was -5 here at the time! I don't like the heat, but this is CRAZY COLD!

How frozen are you guys???

37 degrees. "Feels like" 28. Time 8:11am. Thankfully I got my girls through two bitter cold snaps back to back.

I begged stole and borrowed any cardboard I could scrounge up, to insulate the coop from the negative 30 temps here in Ohio. I have 3 space heaters going in the 10x10 coop, and have closed off any potential air drafts.

All the girls are high enough to get in the warm zone. Temps have been going up, so the girls will be getting a reprieve soon. They are starting to venture outside again.

This is 17 girls and 2 boys. Surprisingly, everybody got along for the most part. They must love me, and trust me. I got eggs all the way though the critical part.

Coop was 35-50 the whole time. The only thing that got cold was my feet.

I rain
But not flooding
Back in my college days in the early eighties and my early twenties
Mobile had one of those really bad floods that I have only seen four times in my life that bad in what I call living on high ground

We have lower ground floods through out a year on a regular basis
My car with all my school books and library books on the floor board were water damaged in my back yard

The library books my parents had to replace

I used to love splashing in puddles when wearing rain boots and
It’s only been the last 3 years that I have not liked walking in the rain ( dec’21 is when I fell and broke elbow and had surgery )

when it was cold , as long as I was warm the rain never stopped me
Thunder and lightning did and I would find shelter and wait the thirty minutes

Now a days I only like to watch and not be in the medium or heavy rain

After a good rain
trees and grass are brighter

Me, too! The ocean has been my lifelong best friend. I was born less than a mile from the Pacific. It is my happy place.

I would drive to the gulf most every day
We had a pop up camper that stayed at a campground on the beach
