Wednesday 19th of March 9.04a.m. Mostly cloudy, sunny gaps. 14.8 / 16.7kph NE, Hg 56%, 21.9C / 71.6F top of 26C / 79F. Mostly sunny. Marine wind warning.

Moon is 78%

My 7yr old hen Joanie started crowing this morning. She has always been an odd girl, head shaking episodes, odd-shaped eggs laid in mid-walk from the coop, and a overgrowing beak. During summer her comb and wattles have doubled in size and turned the richest red. She has also been clucking and carrying on as if broody. I'll be waiting for the Council letter telling me roosters aren't permitted

Today was a lovely early Spring day. My trucks thermometer read 15C (59f) on the way home, the horses and chooks were enjoying the nice mild temps. Snow is pretty much all gone!

Beautiful! I've decided I'm going to enjoy spring and summer vicariously through those of you live in more realistic climates.

What a character! I've heard of hens crowing, especially if there's no rooster around.
