Whats the weirdest thing your chickens have eaten or tried to eat??

My freind came over one day with a pair of sandals and bright red toe nail polish. She'll never do THATagain.

I asked about spaghetti noodles and someone said not to but I was wondering about my young chicks, less than 3 weeks. I might try the adults and see how they like them. I was told that they would go crazy over dried meal worms. Not. Not even the babies are "crazy" over them but at least some of them are eating them. Some of them need to because I paid for them and I'm not going to throw them in the trash. Although, I did try to get my kids to try them. LOL

Sylviaanne, I have fed my 4 ladies spahetti noodles and they LOVE them!! I just cut them into 2-3 in. pieces.......Mine also eat the dry cat food I put out for our 3 feral kitties that we have....along with eating the "leftover's" from the nightly mice raids the cats have....lets see, they've eaten the flaking paint off of a plant stand on the deck...anything that has adhesive on it, seat of my lawn tractor, pulled all my onions out of the rack i was drying them on, didn't really eat them, just mauled them and left them...they LOVE wet dog food...frozen corn, pumpkin pie, pretty much anything, goddess knows what they've eaten from the garage...they will be a year old in April '15 so apparently nothing is "bad" for them.....;)

I'm a Jamberry consultant, and whenever I put on a new wrap, my girls come over and check it out. One got hold of the edge of on and dined on it...EWWWW! I think it's my fault, though. When I bring them yum yums, they eat them out of my hand. I can hear them thinking, "Oh, it's in Mama's hand...must be good!"

I know Ana ate a large washer as I had her x-rayed. She also ate bb gun pellets. The vet suggested surgery to remove it but I wasn't sure if that was a good idea for her as she is a little chicken (Anacuna). She no longer laid eggs after this incident. The washer affected her ability to poop. All the poop came spraying out.

She's bee fine for a year but I now notice her stomach is distended and she has a tumor growing on her abdomen. Now I'm wondering if I shouldn't have opted for surgery but surgery isn't something typically done on "low value" livestock, as the Chicken Health Handbook states.

Everything I've read seems to indicate she is going to die. Does anyone have any suggestions?

My teens were coloring on the sidewalk with chalk. Mimi came over and pecked at a broken piece of chalk. She looked like she had pink cartoon lips! I ran to get a camera, but she had washed it off by the time I got back. It was awesome!
