I have had whale, squirrel, rabbit, eel, squid, octopus, rabbit, alligator, frog, kangaroo, conch, muskrat, venison, boar, elk,...mealworms, crickets, and sea urchin--but some of you guys--have me topped---Hog maws, chitterlings, tripe, and pigs feet are country staples...besides in PA we eat Scrapple...(don't ask) I've tried more--some things I probably wouldn't consider weird anymore--but I am looking for a new thrill...
A few years back we received a post card from my daughter who was at summer camp for a week.
She told us she ate a earth worm.
Turns out her cabin was tied for the lead in the "top cabin" contest. The final 5 points went to the the first person who would eat a earth worm. Needless to say my daughter is very competitive.
So ...
I had to hold momma back from driving to the camp and bringing her home right then and there.

Really? was it prepared like roast beef? My MIL taught me, "If in doubt, flour and fry it."
It was actually just seasoned and then put on a spit over an open fire and cooked slowly all day. If no one told you what it was, you'd swear it was beef.
In Japan, I ate all kinds of things that I didn't really know what they were, but one thing I would not eat, but was offered a few times, was raw horse meat.
I have enjoyed eating chicken feet, beef tripe, rattlesnake, alligator, frog legs, emu, water buffalo... lots of stuff!
