What's your dream flock or farm?

Go crazy!

My dream flock would probably be...
5 Rhodies
5 Buff Orpies
5 Easter Eggers
5 Wyandottes
And a few Sebrights just because they're SO pretty. <3

And then maybe a few breeding groups so I could sell chicks--probably Rhodies and Orpies, but going a little mad scientist with different breeds sounds like a lot of fun, too. :)

As for my farm: all those chickens, plus a dairy cow, two sheep (spinning my own yarn would be awesome), two pigs, a flock of ducks, a bunch of meat rabbits, and as many dogs as I could possibly handle. :D Oh, and a gigantic herb and veggie garden.

What's yours?

Wow!!! What a question!!! You've opened a can of worms. Fun thought though.
Ideally, I'd have a farm in Costa Rica, breed and perfect Black Penedesencas as the worlds premier dual purpose bird and darkest egg layer producing the tastiest meat, largest, darkest eggs Then export my line's eggs around the world.
I've already started that plan in MO.

I sure hope so! :D My dream is to move somewhere with lots and lots of space and go all pioneer woman--always in the market for new ways to fill up my imaginary ranch. ;)

When you say 'dark eggs', how dark is dark? :)

I'd love to have a farm with horses, some goats (would love to learn to make goat cheese), room for my ever expanding flock of chickens (I keep coming across different breeds that I HAVE TO HAVE!), would love a pond for fishing and to have some ducks and of course space for gardening! I guess I should include a decent house on this 'dream' farm! :) My dogs would love additional space to run around outside too!

I would like to have small farm somewhere within the confines of whatever habitat we construct/colonize on mars, where I shall keep and raise slow loris and pygmy marmosets; possibly dolphins as well. I shall teach them to read, then drive vehicles. Later on we shall rise up against the current (Possibly oppressive) chain of leadership on said planet.... And make it our own.

That will be the day......

Although, more realistically, I would like to have a small but pretty farm somewhere a little farther north of where I am.
I would have a couple Cochins and maybe some Zebu. I love Zebu.

I would have around 15 hens and one rooster. Probably Easter Eggers and Wyandottes. I would have enough space to breed my own birds and therefore have flock that would totally be acclimatized to where I lived. I would also have two or three beehives and 2 goats. I would stagger the goats birthing so I could have milk all year. I would also have a vegetable garden and fruit trees. That is my dream farm :)

The White egg was added for reference.

While I'm dreaming - yes horses and cheese and fishing.
Horses so I could ride in some of the many horse parades there.
On that farm up on the slopes of a volcano in CR there would also be Dexter cattle for meat and milk so I could do the cheese thing. There's some good cheese from mountain dairy farms there but mine would naturally be better.
Get some refrigerated storage containers to hang and dry age the beef to fill the void of dry aged beef there.
Wind and hydro will be my power to negate the regular outages.

Yes, bees, fruit and veggies.
Again, while I'm dreaming - on that CR volcano farm, it would be too cool for Africanized bees so my Carniolans and Russians would thrive.
I could also get multiple crops of lettuces and potatoes, asparagus, peas, artichokes, cauliflower, and cabbage.
Also - on the higher slopes - coffee, apples, peaches, strawberries. On the lower slopes - bananas, pineapples, jack fruit, bread fruit, mango, papaya, lychee, avacadoes, passion fruit, anona, guayaba, banana, coconut, chocolate, vanilla, chayote, mangosteen, tree tomatoes, water apples, cashew and macadamia.

I'd want a large ranch. probably about 100 acres or so. I'd have horses, cattle, goats, sheep, turkeys, quail, and lots of chickens. I'd also have a big pond with ducks and geese. My house wouldn't be big, but it'd have a big kitchen. I'd have a huge garden. too. The whole property would be fenced in.
