I reckon I'm a boiled peanut married to a moon pie. I my DH hates moon pies and I usually go for roasted peanuts....oh and the personality thing is way off on both of us.

Oh baby you don't know what you're missing! I like it fried, but I also like to make it like this:
Cut up an onion (dice it up, doesn't have to be perfect) and some garlic (or cheat and use the stuff that's already cut up). Get a big pan and line up as many slices of bacon as you can in it. I like peppered bacon myself. Fry up the bacon and then put it on napkins to drain. Pour off the fat from the pan (I save mine, husband thinks it's gross but doesn't complain about eating anything I make with it
), but leave around 2 tablespoons in the pan to cook your onion and garlic in. Have your okra sliced and ready to go. I have no idea how much I use. Usually a couple big handfuls. USE FRESH!! Don't ask me how to cook canned snot. I had no idea they'd even disgrace okra like that.....canned....geez. Anyhow, after the onion is translucent, put the okra in there and cook it a few minutes. Now, add a can of diced tomatoes (may need two cans, depends on how much you're making). Cook until the okra is nice and tender. Crumble the bacon and add it in with everything else. Salt and pepper to taste. Enjoy!
Sorry for the jumbled directions, but I don't measure anything.
Also, my son and I are Boll Weevils and my husband and daughter are both collards.
You ain't lived til you had some fried okra pancakes. NO, it has nothing to do with breakfast pancakes. You take water and flour and mix until it's a paste. Throw in some sliced okra and fry it. YUMMMMMMY!
Sorry for the jumbled directions, but I don't measure anything.
I don't measure anything either. That's the way grandma taught me to cook.
Okra?? Okay so I have no idea what Okra is, all I know it's some sort of mushy looking vegetable.
It's not a mushy vegetable! You need to come down here and visit. I'll send you back up north so full of fried southern cookin you'll want to move down here and live in my kitchen.
