Hi madcap, I got my suro20 yesterday morning and after fignigling with the instructions I went on their site and found some good videos on the assembly. Mine is holding at 99.8 and 50% humidity. Working great. Don't care much for the egg dividers tho. Here is the site: http://www.r-com.co.kr/ After you get to their site go to far right and click on Resoure I, II and III. Great videos on assembling.

Yeah next time I'll probably use the egg carton or just change that out when I do my first candeling. It has been holding the temp and humidity real well.

I have tried to candle a few eggs this being day 6. I'm having trouble because the Marans eggs are so dark and they don't have as distinct a small end vs large end. I'm worried because I think that the air sac is on the bottom. Here are two attempted photos. One of the Wyandotte and one of the Marans..

I'm not sure if I should turn the eggs with the light looking side up even though I think that is the smaller end???...

Hi Derrick!
You have some nice looking eggs there! About candling ... those Marans eggs are sooo tough to see through, even for the experts. Personally, I don't candle until day 10 at the earliest. Oftentimes, I don't candle until lockdown. I just don't like moving the egg around, and worry about jarring the contents.

Maybe there's no harm, but I just don't like to chance it.

When I do decide to candle, I leave the egg in place, and use a powerful little flashlight, and just hold it on top of the egg. But, again, it is sooooo tough to see anything at alll with those dark eggs!

Best of luck with your hatch!

Thanks for your reply... I think I will just leave them be. I think at least one fo the Wyandottes is good. I am not too sure with the other two. The Marans are very dark and the thing that is bothering me is that the eggs are not like "normal" eggs. There is no "very" distinct little end and big end. The are almost perfect ovals. When I shined the light through them, I got worried because what I thought was the little end was lighter and I thought this may be the air sac. I looked at the egg again and I still think that is the little end but it is hard to tell with these eggs. I would not be so worried but I have them in egg cartons and they are not on their sides....

I may not be able to leave them alone....... I am so curious.... Sunday is day 9...... We will see.... The temp has been rock steady and the humidity for the most part has been great at 43%-46%.
