Kkat,

I was pretty sure they were clear as they had a consistant glow and the other Marans eggs had darker shadows. The risk was breaking these two in the kitchen sink..... I'm glad they did not smell bad or the wife would have killed me..

Kathy,

I read feritility rates all over the place with shipped eggs. I think 11 or 12 is a great number as well and am very pleased so far.

Sometimes you just have to crack a few eggs to find out what is going on... Love the incubator

Well.... I couldn't leave well enough alone and I candled the eggs again today. This is day 15. The one Marans egg that I was not sure about had no change and the others were very dark sooooo....... I took it out front and cracked it open.... I guessed right and it is a dud with a possible early start and then nada...

I did see one of the Wyandottes body parts moving in the shell. That was very cool. The Marans were too dark to see much but the air cell was very clear now.

That leaves 11 developing eggs at this point from the original 15.

So I guess the good vibes are working.

Yesterday was day 18. I stopped the turner and increased the humidity to 53%. I will increase it to 56% when I get home from work and a little more every day till hatch. Sooooo.... I hope that I will have some pictures to post in this week end!!! Send good vibes this way for a successful hatch.

Hello Derrek,
How is the Suro holding the temperature and humidity? Do you have to open it at all during the hatch to adjust the evaporation pad or anything else?

Drom,

The temp has been rock stable at 99.5 degrees as set. It does sometimes go to 99.4 or 99.6 but this is not often. The humidity was set at 45% from the factory and it has kept it at this setting for the whole time with an occasional swing of 43% to 46%. Most of the time I walk into the room and it is 99.5 and 45% as set. I did set it at 52% last night. I did not check it this morning. I will look at it tonight and change it to 56%. I'm hoping that when I get home it will be at 52%

I have not had to mess with the evaporation pad at all. I only opened it to candle. I did that I think 3 times. I didn't even candle it when I locked them down. I just left them alone and didn't open it. This is my first time incubating eggs and it is a very pleasant and stress free experience. I only had 3 out of 15 eggs clear and one that looks like a very early quiter but could have been clear as well. It just didn't look like a normal egg. It had a slight membrane but no chick. That was on day 15.

Let's see how it does now with me changing the humidity on a daily basis. That will be the final test. I also want to see the results of the hatch.....
