When A Chicken Dies

I have a Burn Barrel in my yard, any animal that dies of unknown causes is burned to ashes then added to the compost bin. I don't want to attract predators, chance spreading/catching anything.

it hasnt happened to us yet. but i think we would def bury the chicken. we have lost some house bunnies and have buried all of them. 3 are in our backyard, i used to have a slate on the ground telling me where the bunnies lied, i since have taken up the slate,, it was sad for me to walk by the slate and think "thats where my buns lie"
i will always know where they are in our yard. thats better for us.
i would bury my chickens or dog in the same area,, so ill always know.

Me, too. I like the idea of burying them, but my soil is mostly rock, and the coyotes, raccoons, or neighbor's rat rat terriers would no doubt dig up anything I tried to bury.
